![]() ![]() ![]() I'll leave it to someone with more knowledge than me to comment on whether it's okay from a security point of view to change the permissions of the home folder like that. Either way, changing the permissions of home like this. I don't know whether this is how LMDE sets things up by default, or whether that happened as a result of my previous tinkering. Just as I was about to give up though I spotted that the permissions of my home folder were set to root rather than to my user account, which presumably was stopping Firefox from getting into. mozilla and restarting Firefox running the Firefox profile manager setting it up in /opt instead of /home removing and reinstalling Firefox starting it in sudo mode) but none of these seemed to work in my case. ![]() Google brought up a few fixes that have been suggested by Mozilla or by other users (replacing the profile folder and profile.ini with a macthing set from elsewhere deleting. As already posted, there is really no need to backup the disk cache location in AppDataLocal, but only backup the main profile location in AppDataRoaming. I've just been trying to deal with a similar problem in LMDE4 - attempting to start Firefox just brought up the "Profile missing" error even though the profile folder and corresponding profile.ini file were right there, in the /home//.mozilla folder. Also note that Firefox disables the disk cache if you use 'Clear history when Firefox closes' to clear the disk cache as you can see by the missing disk cache section on the about:cache page. ![]()
